A public library where all are embraced without judgment, individuals are invited to explore, learn, and connect, fostering a sense of belonging where everyone is valued and respected, epitomizing the motto "free to belong."

Free to Belong

Over the past decade, the Dayton Metro Library has experienced a remarkable renaissance, marked by significant transformations, the addition of new branches, and the expansion of its offerings. Real Art was entrusted with the task of crafting a poignant portrayal, spotlighting the myriad uses and diverse individuals who frequent their branches. Through "Free to Belong," we casted real DML patrons from the Dayton community, reflecting a rich tapestry of library-goers. Key challenges included navigating bustling library branches with a sizable crew while maintaining discretion and respect. Adapting to multiple location changes demanded nimble efficiency, enabling us to capture each setting with a bright and saturated aesthetic.
